Important Tax Deadlines

Staying informed about tax deadlines is essential for avoiding penalties and ensuring compliance. Below are some key federal and state deadlines to keep in mind:

  • January 15: Fourth-quarter estimated tax payments for individuals and businesses are due.

  • January 31: Deadline for employers to provide W-2 forms to employees and 1099 forms to independent contractors.

  • March 15: Tax returns for partnerships (Form 1065) and S-corporations (Form 1120-S) are due.

  • April 15: Individual tax returns (Form 1040) and first-quarter estimated tax payments are due. C-corporation tax returns (Form 1120) are also due.

  • June 15: Second-quarter estimated tax payments are due.

  • September 15: Tax returns for partnerships and S-corporations on extension are due, along with third-quarter estimated tax payments.
